The security operations conducted by the Rabat Security Prefecture to protect road users and the general public from the dangers of exhibition racing resulted in the arrest of 16 individuals suspected of involvement in dangerous exhibition racing on Sunday, December 8. These activities were conducted under circumstances that disrupted traffic flow on roads and endangered public safety.
Traffic monitoring procedures and field interventions led to the seizure of several vehicles suspected of being used in these dangerous races, including two cars and 11 motorcycles equipped with large cylinders, which were impounded at the municipal depot.
In a related context, traffic police officers recorded and issued various traffic violation reports against motorcycle riders who were caught in flagrante delicto violating traffic laws.
All individuals arrested in connection with exhibition racing have been subjected to judicial investigation procedures under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor’s office to determine all criminal acts attributed to each of them.
These intensified operations come as part of implementing the action plan adopted by the General Directorate of National Security to enhance monitoring and deterrence measures against the risks of exhibition and dangerous racing, which threaten road users’ safety and affect the security of persons and property due to traffic accidents resulting from such reckless racing.
For reference, the General Directorate of National Security had previously circulated service memoranda to all traffic units and public security services under its authority, emphasizing the need for strict response to exhibition racing and reckless road users who engage in stunt racing or broadcast recordings of these dangerous activities that pose a serious threat to the safety of persons and property.
