On Tuesday evening, December 3, 2024, a dramatic incident in Tiznit prompted a swift response from local police. A police inspector from the Tiznit Regional Security Directorate was forced to use his service weapon as a precautionary measure during an attempt to arrest a 25-year-old man who was heavily intoxicated and exhibiting violent behavior, endangering the lives of both citizens and police officers.
The incident began when police received reports that the suspect was obstructing pedestrians on a major street, threatening them with a knife, and had already assaulted two victims. Upon the arrival of a police patrol at the scene, the suspect violently resisted arrest, wielding the knife. As a result, one of the officers fired a warning shot to subdue the suspect and facilitate his arrest.
The quick intervention led to the suspect’s apprehension and the seizure of the knife. He is currently in police custody, awaiting further investigation under the supervision of the public prosecutor to clarify the circumstances of the incident and determine the full extent of his criminal actions.
