The General Delegation for Prison Administration and Reintegration has firmly denied allegations circulating on social media regarding an attorney’s indecent stay at the local prison in Souk El Arba, allegedly facilitated by the prison director. The delegation stated that these claims are baseless, as confirmed by a detailed investigation conducted by a specialized central committee.
In a statement, the delegation clarified that the mentioned attorney entered the facility only once, on November 7, 2023, to confer with one of his male clients. This was corroborated by reviewing official records and electronic surveillance camera footage.
The delegation added that access to women’s sections within prisons is subject to strict security protocols applicable to all personnel, including the prison director, whether during the night or day. It also noted that the dispatched committee interviewed several female inmates who categorically denied the validity of these allegations.
The delegation emphasized that spreading such false claims tarnishes the reputation of the institution and its staff, as well as the prison sector as a whole. It called for verifying information before publication to avoid harming the reputation of national institutions.
