Minister of Health Presents 2025 Budget to House of Councillors: MAD 32.6 Billion to Strengthen Healthcare System

Minister of Health and Social Protection, Amine Tehrawy, presented his ministry’s draft budget for 2025 to the Education, Cultural and Social Affairs Committee at the House of Councillors on Wednesday, totaling MAD 32.6 billion, an increase of MAD 1.9 billion compared to the current year.

During the presentation, the Minister highlighted the sector’s achievements from 2022-2024, noting significant progress in expanding social protection and universal health coverage, as well as upgrading healthcare infrastructure.

Tehrawy unveiled the Ministry’s plan for the coming year, which includes:

  • Completing construction of university hospital centers in Laayoune, Guelmim, Errachidia, and Beni Mellal
  • Rebuilding Ibn Sina Hospital
  • Continuing construction and reconstruction of 78 healthcare facilities
  • Rehabilitating 534 primary healthcare facilities
  • Implementing an integrated information system and launching shared medical records

The Minister emphasized the priority of developing human resources, announcing an increase in sector job positions while maintaining and enhancing professional benefits.

This budget falls within the framework of continuing the Royal initiative for universal social protection and implementing the 2021-2026 government program, reflecting the priority given to healthcare in public policies.

The Minister also highlighted that the significant budget increase demonstrates the government’s commitment to the healthcare sector and its ongoing reform efforts.
