The Criminal Appeals Chamber at the Court of Appeal in Fes decided on Monday, November 25, 2024, to postpone the trial of Abdelali Hami El Din, a senior member of the Justice and Development Party (PJD), until January 27, 2025.
The postponement is due to his involvement in the case of the 1993 murder of leftist student activist Bennis Ait Jid. This case has remained a controversial and highly debated topic in Morocco.
The decision to delay the trial followed a request from Hami El Din’s defense team for more time to review the case file in detail and to summon the key witness in the case, Al-Khammar Hadoui. This case, which has sparked significant political and legal debates over the years, continues to draw national attention due to its complexity and ongoing repercussions.
