In a joint security operation conducted on Friday, November 22, 2024, Moroccan and Spanish authorities successfully dismantled an ISIS-affiliated terror cell consisting of nine members. The suspects operated across multiple cities, including Tetouan and Fnideq in Morocco, as well as Madrid, Ibiza, and Ceuta in Spain.
Investigations uncovered dangerous plots the suspects were allegedly planning to carry out under the banner of the terrorist organization. They reportedly used their frequent meetings in Ceuta and Tetouan as platforms to strategize operations before attempting to join the group’s branch in the Sahel region. Searches during the operation led to the seizure of bladed weapons and electronic devices, which are currently undergoing forensic examination.
The Moroccan suspects have been placed in custody under the supervision of the public prosecutor specializing in terrorism and extremism cases to further investigate their domestic and international connections.
