In a targeted operation, police in the Meknes Security Department arrested an individual in the early hours of Tuesday, November 19, on suspicion of possessing and trafficking drugs and psychotropic substances, following precise information provided by the General Directorate for National Territorial Surveillance.
The suspect, who had arrived by train from a northern city of Morocco, was detained at the Meknes railway station. A thorough search revealed a significant drug stash, including 1,689 pills. Among these, 1,074 pills were identified as ecstasy, and 615 were prescription drugs, specifically Rivotril, marking a significant blow to local drug trafficking networks.
According to security sources, a judicial investigation has been opened under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor’s office to uncover further details of the case and to explore potential links to broader criminal activities. This is part of ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking and its harmful effects on society.
This operation highlights the vigilance of law enforcement agencies in monitoring the movements of drug traffickers and reinforces Morocco’s commitment to intensifying its fight against smuggling and trafficking networks, which pose a threat to public safety and health.
