The Expatriate Students Club, in collaboration with Fez News website and the Association for Social and Ecological Development, organized a training session on “Digital Transition and Artificial Intelligence and Their Impact on Journalism in Morocco.” This scientific gathering took place on Sunday, November 17, 2024, in Sint-Joost-ten-Node, Brussels, under the supervision of media expert Youssef Tassouli.
The session attracted a diverse group of participants, including PhD and Master’s students from various disciplines, association presidents, AI enthusiasts, and a poet from Syria.
The lecturer addressed three main axes:
The first axis focused on digital transformation in Morocco, where he reviewed digital government initiatives, startups, digitalization of small enterprises, and cloud computing. He also discussed the national strategy for digital transformation towards 2030 and the role of the National Committee for Digital Development.
The second axis dealt with artificial intelligence, where the lecturer provided a comprehensive definition of AI and the role of AI engineers, reviewing key terminology and UNESCO recommendations regarding AI ethics, while highlighting the legal challenges accompanying its development.
The third axis was dedicated to the role of professional journalists in the AI era, explaining how these technologies have facilitated news analysis, processing, and information delivery. He also discussed challenges related to fake news and its impact on public opinion.
The session concluded with an open discussion about concerns regarding AI use, raising important questions about the future of this technology and its responsibility in cases of errors or disasters.
