In a step toward reinforcing ties between Morocco and France, bar associations from both countries agreed on Tuesday, November 12, in Rabat to enhance cooperation within the framework of the renewed momentum in Moroccan-French relations.
This agreement was reached during a working meeting held at the headquarters of the Moroccan Bar Association, attended by its president, El-Houssein Iziani, Chair of the European and International Affairs Committee of the French Bar Council, Marie-Aimée Perron, along with several Moroccan lawyers and a representative from the French Embassy.
In a statement, El-Houssein Iziani noted, “We aim to activate cooperation, particularly in the areas of client rights, training, and digital transformation.” He added that both parties decided to establish a joint committee between the Moroccan Bar Association and the French Bar Council, with the goal of signing a bilateral cooperation agreement soon.
Marie-Aimée Perron praised the initiative, highlighting “the strong mutual understanding between the professional bodies of both countries.” She noted that the meeting covered key issues, such as professional ethics, the independence of the legal profession, and the growing role of artificial intelligence in the field. She emphasized that “ongoing training for lawyers is a shared priority and crucial for the profession’s future.”
This initiative reflects a broader openness to collaboration between Morocco and France, contributing to enhanced professional development and addressing the digital challenges faced by the legal sector in both countries.
