A senior source at the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) has revealed that Hakim Ziyech’s exclusion from the national team’s squad for the matches against Gabon and Lesotho is purely for technical reasons and not for any considerations outside of football.
The source explained in an exclusive statement that coach Walid Regragui maintains constant communication with all players, whether called up to the camp or not, indicating that the decision not to call up Ziyech was due to his limited playing time with his Turkish club Galatasaray, despite having recovered from injury.
The source questioned why there was no controversy over Roman Saiss’s exclusion from the squad, affirming that Ziyech’s journey with the national team is not yet over, and that Regragui only calls up players who are ready and competitive.
The source added that the national coach has excluded several key players after the World Cup due to their declining performance levels, emphasizing that the main criterion for selection is the players’ technical and physical readiness.
