Dismantling of Medical Records Forgery Network in Meknes

Security sources revealed that the judicial police in the city of Meknes have succeeded in dismantling a criminal network specializing in forging medical records and defrauding social mutual benefit organizations and health insurance companies.

The operation resulted in the arrest of four suspects, including two women, who work as employees in private sector medical clinics. According to preliminary investigations, the accused were involved in forging the signature and stamps of a doctor working at a radiology center in the city, using them to forge medical documents to obtain financial compensation from social security institutions.

This fraudulent operation was discovered after employees of the Office Chérifien des Phosphates (OCP) mutual benefit organization noticed an unusual frequency of medical files coming from Meknes, despite the absence of OCP facilities or employees in the city. Following notification from the mutual organization, one of the doctors discovered that one of his employees was forging medical files using his stamps, which prompted him to file a complaint with security authorities.

Sources suggest the network likely has extensions in pharmacies and other health institutions in the city, especially since Meknes security services had previously dismantled a similar network in 2020 that included six employees working for private sector doctors.

The four suspects have been brought before the competent public prosecutor’s office, which ordered their detention pending trial, following the completion of preliminary investigation procedures in the case.
