Breaking: Breakthrough in Lawyers’ Crisis Following Marathon Dialogue with Justice Minister

Rabat – A breakthrough was achieved today in the crisis between the Ministry of Justice and the Moroccan Bar Associations, following a dialogue session that lasted more than six hours at the Parliament headquarters, after lawyers had announced a comprehensive boycott of court sessions and judicial proceedings.

The meeting, which was chaired by the heads of the legislative committees, was attended by the Minister of Justice, bar association presidents, and representatives of the Association of Moroccan Bar Associations, resulting in several positive outcomes.

Sources present at the meeting reported that the Minister of Justice retracted his previous statements regarding the legal profession, affirming its pivotal role in the Moroccan justice system.

The Minister pledged to institutionalize dialogue between the Ministry and the Association of Bar Associations. An agreement was also reached to form a joint committee to study proposed laws and pending issues, according to an agreed-upon agenda, with official documentation of meeting minutes.

The joint committee is scheduled to hold its first meeting next Monday, November 11, 2024, in a step aimed at enhancing cooperation and resolving outstanding disputes between both parties.
