King Mohammed VI has issued a royal decree granting Moroccan citizenship to UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championship) global fighters, brothers Ismail and Islam Nordieff, in a move that strengthens Morocco’s presence in the international sports scene.
According to the Official Gazette issue 7469 published on November 4, 2024, the decision includes the Chechen-born brothers, Ismail (28 years old) and Islam (18 years old), who are considered among the world’s top talents in UFC.
This decision reflects the Kingdom of Morocco’s sports policy aimed at attracting distinguished international talents and enhancing Morocco’s representation in international sporting events. The decree opens new horizons for the Nordieff brothers to represent Morocco in world championships and raise the Moroccan flag in major international competitions.
The granting of Moroccan citizenship to the Nordieff brothers comes as part of a series of royal initiatives aimed at developing Morocco’s sports landscape and strengthening the kingdom’s presence in various international sports.
The move is seen as another step in Morocco’s strategy to embrace international sporting talent and provide opportunities for young champions to represent the country on the global stage.
