Moroccan Government Reaffirms Commitment to National Cause Following Royal Speech on Green March Anniversary

In the opening of today’s Government Council meeting, held on November 7, 2024, the Head of Government highlighted the Royal Speech delivered by King Mohammed VI on the 49th anniversary of the Green March.

The Prime Minister noted that the King’s address served as a clear call for the international community and the United Nations to take responsibility in resolving the long-standing artificial dispute over the Moroccan Sahara.

The King emphasized the contrast between Morocco’s legitimate reality in its Sahara and the stagnant positions held by opponents of territorial unity.

The Prime Minister reiterated that Morocco will persist unwaveringly in its defense of the national cause, engaging all components of the Moroccan state domestically and internationally. He stressed that the current period is pivotal for the territorial integrity issue and affirmed the government’s commitment to mobilizing all efforts to advocate for Morocco’s sovereignty over the Sahara.

Additionally, the Prime Minister referenced the King’s emphasis on the role of Moroccans residing abroad, noting the call to restructure the institutions dedicated to their affairs.

In particular, the King’s vision included the establishment of the “Mohammed VI Foundation for Moroccans Living Abroad,” aimed at enhancing coordination and meeting the needs of Moroccans in the diaspora.

In line with these Royal directives, the Prime Minister confirmed that the government will act with diligence and urgency to implement the King’s vision.

An initial meeting with relevant ministries will be held today to discuss institutional and legal mechanisms for executing the directives and ensuring productive coordination across agencies.

The Prime Minister concluded by announcing a structural program to reorganize institutions serving Moroccans abroad, aligned with the King’s vision.

This program aims to effectively meet the evolving needs of the diaspora and strengthen Morocco’s position on the international stage.
