The “Africa for Trade and Investment: Risk Management” forum kicked off on November 6, 2024, in Frankfurt, Germany, organized by the German-African Economic Association (Africa Verein). The event will continue until November 7, 2024, with participants including representatives from Germany’s private sector, as well as political and economic decision-makers from various African countries.
In his opening speech, Minister of Industry and Trade, Ryad Mezzour, emphasized Morocco’s prominent position as a reliable and competitive investment destination. He noted that Morocco has become a key attraction for German investors seeking to expand into Africa.
Mezzour explained that the strong interest from German companies is attributed to the country’s dynamic development, driven by major projects under the leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI. He further highlighted that Morocco continues to attract foreign investors, particularly Germans, by offering a competitive and advanced environment.
This allows them to leverage the country’s strategic location and human resources, facilitating expansion into global markets. He also mentioned that around 300 German companies operate in Morocco, contributing to the creation of 35,000 job opportunities across various sectors, including engineering and advanced technologies.
In conclusion, Mezzour called for strengthening the trade partnership between Morocco and Germany, stressing the importance of mutual cooperation to achieve sustainable development and stability for both countries in the future.
The forum, which brings together businesspeople and government delegations from Africa and Germany, focuses on creating ideal frameworks to unlock business opportunities and enhance investments in Africa. It also covers financing mechanisms and reducing risks that German companies may face in the African continent, with an emphasis on accelerating regional integration and boosting the role of companies in this process.
The forum’s activities will continue today, with participants discussing ways to further develop cooperation between Africa and Germany, benefiting both parties in business and investment sectors.
