The Guelmim-Oued Noun Regional Council has announced the launch of major development projects in Tan-Tan Province with a total value exceeding 820 million dirhams, marking the 49th anniversary of the Green March.
According to a press release from the Council, these projects were launched on Monday, November 4, 2024, under the supervision of Regional Governor Mohamed Najem Abhay, Regional Council President Mbarka Bouaida, and the Governor of Tan-Tan Province.
The main projects include:
- Rehabilitation of Tan-Tan port at a cost of 128 million dirhams, with a 64 million dirham contribution from the Regional Council
- Urban rehabilitation program for Tan-Tan and El Ouatia cities valued at 399 million dirhams
- Major road projects including:
- Rehabilitation of Regional Road 118 between El Ouatia and Foum Draa (27 million dirhams)
- Rehabilitation of National Road 01 at El Ouatia entrance (15 million dirhams)
- Road between El Msid and Abtih (130 million dirhams)
The projects also included basic infrastructure improvements, comprising:
- Installation of an air quality monitoring station
- Construction of five proximity sports fields
- Drinking water and electricity projects
- Construction of the Ouin Madkour dam in Tilemzoun
- Expansion and rehabilitation of the dialysis center in Tan-Tan
The press release emphasized that these projects reflect the Council’s commitment to enhancing local development and improving basic services for residents, focusing on infrastructure development to achieve comprehensive and sustainable development in the region.
