On Friday, November 1, 2024, Her Royal Highness Princess Lalla Hasnaa inaugurated “Dar Al Maghrib” in Doha, Qatar, accompanied by Her Excellency Sheikha Al Mayassa bint Hamad Al Thani.
This architectural landmark, which showcases Morocco’s rich heritage and vibrant culture, marks a significant highlight of the “Qatar-Morocco 2024” cultural year, aimed at fostering cultural exchange and strengthening the bonds between the two nations.
Inspired by the historical architecture of the Ait Benhaddou Kasbah a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1987 and a symbol of traditional Moroccan earth construction Dar Al Maghrib spans 1,300 square meters and celebrates the unique and authentic architectural spirit of Morocco.
During the visit, Princess Lalla Hasnaa and Sheikha Al Mayassa also toured the exhibitions “Atlas Treasures: A Journey Through Moroccan Heritage” and “Discover: Morocco” at the Museum of Islamic Art. These exhibitions provide visitors with a rich journey into the treasures of the Atlas Mountains and authentic Moroccan heritage, offering Qatari and international audiences the opportunity to explore diverse facets of Moroccan culture.
“Dar Al Maghrib” and its accompanying exhibitions represent a milestone in Moroccan-Qatari cultural cooperation, embodying a shared vision of culture and heritage as a bridge for mutual understanding and connection between peoples.
