In a new move to bolster its leadership in digital education, Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P) announced today, Thursday, October 31, the opening of a new branch of the School of Digitalization in Rabat.
This expansion aims to establish a specialized center for cybersecurity, positioning it as a center of excellence in Africa. It serves as a strategic addition to the university’s initiatives in computer science.
The new branch offers a flexible three-year program targeting high school graduates, with options to join either after preparatory classes or undergraduate programs.
Students can enter directly after high school or in their third year, aligning with the admission system at UM6P’s main campuses in Benguerir and Rabat.
The cybersecurity program complements existing offerings in artificial intelligence and machine learning, with admissions for the new track opening through an entrance exam in June 2025.
Professor Rachid Guerraoui, Head of the School of Digitalization Steering Committee, stated, “The launch of the cybersecurity branch in Rabat is a crucial step in developing skilled professionals to tackle rapid digital challenges. Our vision is to establish two centers of excellence one for AI and machine learning in Benguerir and another for cybersecurity in Rabat. Our goal is to prepare future digital leaders to actively contribute to digital transformation in Morocco and Africa.”
UM6P’s School of Digitalization currently hosts a distinguished faculty of 32 professors, 91 PhD candidates, and 239 students, offering prestigious programs like the State Engineer diploma and PhDs in computer science.
Its curriculum integrates theoretical foundations with advanced technological applications, aligning with the evolving demands of the digital industry.
This expansion to Rabat is part of UM6P’s vision to advance education and scientific research in digital sciences, equipping a new generation to meet the needs of the fast-paced digital landscape through a unique blend of academic excellence and technological innovation.
This initiative aims to prepare future leaders in IT and cybersecurity across Morocco and Africa.
