French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot announced a series of practical measures confirming his country’s position supporting Moroccan sovereignty over the Sahara, as part of strengthening the exceptional partnership between the two countries.
The French minister revealed three main steps translating this position into reality:
First: France’s official adoption of the complete map of the Kingdom of Morocco, which includes the Saharan territories, in all official documents and transactions.
Second: Paris’s decision to strengthen its diplomatic and cultural presence in the kingdom’s southern provinces through expanding French consular representation and cultural activities in the region.
Third: Launching joint development initiatives covering the Saharan territories, aimed at contributing to the economic and social development of the region.
These steps confirm the qualitative shift in the French position regarding the Moroccan Sahara issue and represent a practical translation of French support for the autonomy plan under Moroccan sovereignty.
