Security Intervention in Meknes: Police Officer Draws Service Weapon Against Threatening Individual

In a decisive security intervention, a police officer from the Meknes Security District had to brandish his service weapon without using it on Monday, October 28, to confront an individual with a criminal record, aged 31, who threatened the safety of citizens and police officers with a knife.

According to security sources, the suspect threatened a citizen and verbally assaulted him while wielding a knife, prompting the intervention of a traffic police officer present at the scene.

However, the suspect refused to comply with the officer’s orders and violently resisted, using a knife against him an incident captured in video clips that circulated on social media.

As the situation escalated, the officer brandished his service weapon as a precautionary measure to avert the potential danger until additional police support arrived, enabling them to apprehend the suspect and seize the knife used in the threat.

The suspect has been placed under police custody as per the instructions of the competent public prosecutor’s office to continue investigations aimed at uncovering all circumstances surrounding the incident and determining all the criminal acts committed by the accused.
