Minister of Agriculture Launches 2024/2025 Agricultural Season with Exceptional Support Measures for Farmers

Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, Rural Development, Water, and Forests, Mr. Ahmed El Bouari, launched the 2024/2025 agricultural season from Meknes and El Hajeb yesterday.

This season comes amid rising challenges in the sector, prompting exceptional measures to support Moroccan farmers.

The launch follows six consecutive years of severe drought and an unstable global economic landscape, both of which have directly impacted agricultural production and farmers’ livelihoods in Morocco.

During the event, Mr. El Bouari reaffirmed the ministry’s commitment to backing farmers through a range of measures, including financing programs, easier access to seeds and agricultural equipment, and robust support for advanced irrigation techniques, particularly in drought-affected areas.

The program aims to bolster farmers’ resilience, especially in Meknes and El Hajeb, where diminished rainfall has had severe consequences.

Additional measures include projects to enhance crop productivity through modern farming techniques and direct support for small-scale farmers to boost land yield.

The ministry’s goals with these initiatives are to promote sustainable production, ensure national food security, and create new opportunities for farmers to thrive despite ongoing climate and economic challenges.

The 2024/2025 agricultural season emphasizes the growing importance of investments in agriculture and the need for smart solutions to address climate shifts, ensuring the resilience of Moroccan farmers and the preservation of vital agricultural resources.
