Moroccan Bar Association Announces Comprehensive Boycott of Judicial Sessions and Procedures

During a meeting held in Tangier on October 26, 2024, the Moroccan Bar Association (CBA) announced its decision to comprehensively boycott all court sessions, judicial procedures, and relevant financial processes.

This decision was taken as a protest against the current challenges in the justice sector and as a means of defending the legal profession and the rights of attorneys.

The association highlighted the urgent need for decisive steps in addressing the growing obstacles hindering the justice system in Morocco, reaffirming its unwavering commitment to principles of law, justice, and professional dignity.

In its statement, the CBA explained that this move is intended to draw attention to the pressing issues affecting the sector, emphasizing the importance of judicial reform.

The association’s demands focus on fostering cooperation among all stakeholders and ensuring a respectful work environment for both attorneys and citizens, reflecting the values of a modern state committed to human rights.

The Moroccan Bar Association further asserted that it would escalate its actions if its legitimate demands remain unmet, and it is prepared to continue its advocacy efforts until its goals for judicial reform and the enhancement of the legal profession’s standing are achieved.
