In a tragic incident that shook the student community in Marrakech, a student at the Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy took his own life on Saturday by consuming a large quantity of medications.
Close sources to the victim reported that Abdelghani, the name of the deceased student, made this tragic decision against the backdrop of the crisis affecting medical schools. He was transported to Mohammed VI University Hospital after taking an overdose of medications in his room, but passed away despite medical attempts to save his life.
Those close to the victim explained that the student had been suffering from severe depression due to the Ministry of Health and Social Protection’s decision to dismiss him from the faculty. They added: “He lost hope in achieving his dream of becoming a doctor. The students’ demands are legitimate, as they are only asking for the resumption of classes and maintaining the seven-year training program. Abdelghani worked very hard to achieve his goals, but the decision to dismiss him shattered all his hopes.”
