Nacer Jebbour, Director of the National Institute of Geophysics, reported that two earthquakes were recorded on Monday and Tuesday off the coast of Tetouan. The first tremor measured 2.4 degrees on the Richter scale, while the second registered 2.1 degrees.
In an exclusive statement, Jebbour confirmed that the two tremors were not felt by residents.
Morocco is currently experiencing notable seismic activity, with an earthquake measuring 3 degrees on the Richter scale recorded last Thursday in the commune of Sidi Amer El Hadi in Sidi Kacem province.
Another tremor measuring 4.5 degrees was also detected last week in the commune of Sidi Al Makhfi in Ifrane province. This tremor, which occurred at 10:00 AM, was felt by residents of Ifrane, Meknes, Azrou, and other regions. Jebbour reassured, “Fortunately, no human casualties or material damage were recorded.”
