On Monday, October 21, the Administrative Court in Tangier issued a ruling to dismiss the president of the Tangier-Medina district, Mohamed Cherkaoui, and three of his deputies.
The wali (governor) of the Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima region, Younes Tazi, had suspended Mohamed Cherkaoui and three of his deputies last September, pending the dismissal decision. This decision came after several sessions dedicated to investigating the administrative irregularities committed by these four officials.
The individuals concerned were found guilty of violations related to the issuance of administrative certificates for water and electricity connections, as well as commercial and construction licenses outside their jurisdiction.
The dismissal of the president of Tangier-Medina and his deputies also implies their removal from the Tangier Communal Council.
