The Provincial Delegation of Health and Social Protection in Taza province organized a large-scale campaign for the early detection of breast and cervical cancer on Wednesday, October 16, 2024. The campaign was held at the rural health center in Oulad Zbair in the Oued Amlil district, under the supervision of the Regional Directorate of Health and Social Protection, in collaboration with the Basma Al-Khair Association and local authorities.
In addition to screening for breast and cervical cancers, the campaign included various health services such as HIV and syphilis testing, medical consultations, and ultrasound examinations. The campaign also featured awareness and sensitization sessions for participating women.
The campaign yielded notable results, with a total of 749 women benefiting, distributed as follows:
- 407 beneficiaries of early breast cancer detection
- 185 beneficiaries of cervical cancer screening
- 38 beneficiaries of pregnancy monitoring via ultrasound
- 60 beneficiaries of general ultrasound examinations
- 97 beneficiaries of medical consultations
- 38 beneficiaries of syphilis and HIV testing
- 804 beneficiaries of awareness and sensitization sessions
24 cases were referred to the reference center for follow-up, including 6 cases related to breast cancer and 18 cases for cervical cancer.
It’s worth noting that this campaign is part of the national campaign for early detection of breast and cervical cancer, launched by the Ministry of Health and Social Protection under the slogan “Your check-up now is security and stability… Don’t hesitate.” The campaign targets women aged 40 to 69 years for breast cancer, and 30 to 49 years for cervical cancer.
This initiative underscores the importance of early detection in fighting cancer and improving treatment opportunities, contributing to raising health awareness among women in the region.
