The Moroccan Ministry of Tourism, Handicrafts, and Social and Solidarity Economy announced on Wednesday a new historic achievement in the tourism sector, with the kingdom welcoming 13.1 million tourists by the end of September 2024.
The ministry stated in a press release that this outstanding performance represents an increase of about two million tourists compared to the same period in 2023, confirming Morocco’s growing dynamism as a tourist destination on the international stage.
September was particularly exceptional, receiving 1.3 million tourists, an increase of 33% compared to September 2023. The number of foreign tourists also rose by 40% during the same month.
In this context, the Minister of Tourism, Handicrafts, and Social and Solidarity Economy, Fatim-Zahra Ammor, stated: “The Moroccan momentum is undeniable. Under the enlightened vision of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, our country’s international influence is growing. Our targeted efforts, in line with our roadmap, are bearing fruit.”
The minister pointed out that the significant increase in air connections, promotional campaigns, as well as the development of modern infrastructure and attractive tourist experiences are contributing to this exceptional dynamism.
Ammor concluded by saying: “This new record in tourist arrivals fills us with pride and strengthens our determination to achieve our ambitious goal of 26 million visitors by 2030.”
