The Popular Movement Party issued a statement on Monday, October 7, 2024, following its political bureau meeting, addressing several current national and international issues.
The statement affirmed the party’s commitment to the strategic diplomatic vision led by King Mohammed VI to safeguard the kingdom’s territorial integrity, considering that the European Court of Justice’s ruling on Moroccan-European agreements puts European partners in an awkward position.
Regarding the situation in the Middle East, the party condemned the Israeli aggression against the Palestinian and Lebanese peoples, calling on the international community to intervene urgently to stop the escalation in the region. The party emphasized that the final solution lies in establishing an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital.
On the domestic front, the party directed sharp criticism at the government’s performance after three years in office, pointing to:
- The government’s failure to translate its electoral program into tangible public policies
- Weak response to escalating economic and social crises
- Deficiencies in addressing sensitive issues such as education, employment, and healthcare
- Slow implementation of advanced regionalization reforms
The statement called on the government, as it prepares its final finance law for 2025, to provide concrete solutions to boost the national economy and reduce unemployment rates.
The statement concluded by announcing a structural and outreach program to strengthen party work in preparation for upcoming elections.
The statement was signed by the party’s Secretary-General, Mohamed Ouazine.
