A police inspector in Marrakech was forced to use his service weapon in a warning shot early this morning, Monday, October 7th, to apprehend a 28-year-old individual with a criminal record who posed a serious threat to the safety of citizens and police officers using bladed weapons.
The police patrol intervened after receiving a report about the suspect causing chaos in a public street, where he was armed with two knives, endangering both people and property.
When police attempted to arrest him, the suspect refused to comply with orders and violently resisted, wielding the weapons against the officers.
This prompted the police inspector to fire a warning shot into the air to deter him.
Thanks to this intervention, the police successfully neutralized the threat posed by the suspect, who was then arrested, and one of the weapons used in the incident was confiscated.
The suspect is now under investigation under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor’s office, to uncover the circumstances of the case and determine the criminal acts he was involved in.
