Abdellatif Hammouchi, Director General of National Security and Territorial Surveillance, has granted a posthumous promotion in rank to a police officer who passed away from severe injuries following a traffic accident.
The incident occurred on the coastal road between Fnideq and Tangier on September 30th, while the officer was participating in operations to combat illegal immigration.
The central human resources department has been tasked with officially registering the exceptional promotion of the deceased to the rank of Police Sergeant and ensuring its benefits are extended to his family.
In addition, Mr. Hammouchi directed that condolences be offered to the officer’s family, along with all possible forms of support.
The funeral of the late officer was attended by his family, senior officials, and members of the national police force, with the burial taking place in his hometown of Kenitra.
The officer was fulfilling his security duties as part of efforts to combat mass illegal immigration attempts when a vehicle struck him on the road between Fnideq and Tangier.
The driver responsible for the incident has been arrested and is under judicial investigation.
This exceptional promotion underscores the Directorate General of National Security’s dedication to its staff and their families, particularly those who sacrifice their lives in the service of national security and public safety.
