The Regional Council of Judicial Commissioners for the Meknes-Errachidia Court of Appeal has announced a three-day warning strike from October 2 to 4, 2024.
In a statement issued on October 1, 2024, by the President of the Regional Council, Dr. Fawzia Al-Bouskarawi, the decision to strike comes in implementation of the decision by the Executive Office of the National Board of Judicial Commissioners in Morocco. The strike aims to confront the draft Professional Law No. 46/21, which is scheduled to be presented to the government council on October 4, 2024.
The statement called on all judicial commissioners affiliated with the council to:
- Cease work and close offices throughout the strike days
- Refrain from carrying out any direct or indirect procedures
- Prevent sworn clerks attached to their offices from carrying out notifications of direct or indirect procedures
- Close the council’s endorsement boxes
The statement also indicated that the council will establish vigilance committees for follow-up.
The statement concluded by calling on all colleagues regionally to adhere to their institution and its structures, emphasizing the slogan “Long live the profession of judicial commissioner, free and independent.”
This strike comes as a protest against a draft law concerning the organization of the judicial commissioners’ profession, indicating disagreements between the professional body and the government about the future and organization of the profession.
