The Court of First Instance in the Moroccan city of Tetouan has issued judicial rulings against 52 individuals in connection with the events related to the attempted breach of the border fence of Ceuta, a city under Spanish sovereignty, on September 15th.
The sentences ranged from two to nine months of enforceable imprisonment, in addition to fines of 1,000 Moroccan dirhams. The sentences were distributed as follows:
- 27 individuals: seven months imprisonment
- 20 individuals: nine months imprisonment
- One person: six months imprisonment
- Two individuals: three months imprisonment
- Two individuals: two months imprisonment
The court also acquitted one person of the charges against them.
The list of charges against the convicts included several offenses, including insulting public officials during the performance of their duties, violence against law enforcement officers, disobedience, vandalism of public property, illegal entry and exit from national territory, and armed gathering on public roads.
Security authorities in the city of Fnideq had arrested dozens of people suspected of inciting the attack and involvement in riots and damage to public property and security vehicles.
It is worth noting that the court decided to postpone the consideration of the case of the Algerian defendant who sparked widespread controversy on social media platforms, as her file was separated from the rest of the defendants in the case.
