Prince Moulay Hicham, cousin of King Mohammed VI, expressed his deep gratitude to the Moroccan monarch for his intervention in facilitating the arrival of his mother’s family, Princess Lalla Lamia Essolh of Lebanon, to Rabat amid the current escalation between Israel and Lebanese Hezbollah.
In a Facebook post, Prince Moulay Hicham conveyed his profound sadness over the situation in Lebanon, noting that the ongoing conflict has displaced more than a million people. He wrote, “My eyes weep, my heart aches, and my soul suffers for the loss of life and destruction striking my second country, our dear Lebanon. To date, there are a million displaced people.”
The Prince, who is the son of Prince Moulay Abdellah (brother of the late King Hassan II) and Lamia el-Solh (daughter of Riad el-Solh, Lebanon’s first Prime Minister after independence), added, “What comforts us amidst this tragedy is the reception of our Lebanese family among our loved ones in Rabat.”
Prince Moulay Hicham expressed his gratitude to all those who contributed to bringing his Lebanese family back to Rabat, with King Mohammed VI at the forefront. He stated, “I am grateful to the brave individuals who worked tirelessly for their departure, and I am deeply thankful to His Majesty King Mohammed VI who made our reunion possible.”
This development comes amid continuing tensions on the Lebanese-Israeli border, highlighting the humanitarian role that Moroccan royal diplomacy can play in times of crisis.
