New York – During the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly, Moroccan Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita made a press statement on September 27, 2024, reaffirming the Kingdom of Morocco’s stance in support of the Palestinian cause.
Bourita reiterated Morocco’s position, as expressed by King Mohammed VI in his recent speech on the occasion of Throne Day, calling for an immediate ceasefire as a prelude to a political process aimed at finding a definitive solution to the conflict in the Middle East.
The Minister highlighted the humanitarian support ordered by King Mohammed VI, in his capacity as Chairman of the Al-Quds Committee, to alleviate the suffering of the region’s population. He also pointed to Morocco’s efforts to create suitable conditions for a political solution based on two states, with the establishment of a Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital.
Regarding the current humanitarian crisis, Bourita emphasized that Morocco strongly condemns the Israeli attacks on children and women, and the destruction of hospitals and schools, considering these actions unacceptable.
These statements come in the context of Morocco’s ongoing diplomatic efforts to support the Palestinian cause on the international stage, and confirm the Kingdom’s steadfast position towards this pivotal issue in the Middle East.
This declaration underscores Morocco’s continued commitment to the Palestinian cause and its active role in seeking a just and comprehensive solution to the Middle East conflict within the framework of international legitimacy.
