Rabat – In a move aimed at enhancing infrastructure and protecting citizens from flood risks, parliamentary member Ilham Saqi has submitted a written question to the Minister of Equipment and Water regarding the construction of high-quality bridges in flood-prone areas.
In the context of her inquiry, MP Saqi recalled the recent tragic events that several regions of the kingdom experienced due to flooding, highlighting the urgent need to improve infrastructure in areas at risk.
The MP emphasized the necessity for urgent and effective measures, calling on the Minister to adopt a comprehensive strategy for building high-quality bridges, especially in areas adjacent to valleys. She also stressed the importance of developing advanced infrastructure that takes into account the unique geographical and climatic characteristics of each region.
Saqi stated in a media declaration: “Protecting citizens’ lives and properties must be at the top of the government’s priorities. We need sustainable and long-term solutions to face the challenges of climate change and extreme natural phenomena.”
This parliamentary question is expected to spark a debate on current policies related to flood risk management and infrastructure development in the kingdom. Observers are anticipating the response of the Ministry of Equipment and Water to these demands, and any subsequent action plans to enhance the safety of flood-prone areas.
This initiative comes at a time of increasing concerns about the impacts of climate change on Morocco, necessitating a comprehensive and effective governmental response to protect citizens and vital infrastructure throughout the country.
