At the beginning of this week, a new group of Moroccan nationals held in Algeria returned to their homeland after being released by Algerian authorities upon the completion of their sentences.
According to reports from Moroccan and Algerian media, a total of 22 Moroccan citizens crossed the “Gouj Beghal” border post in the city of Oujda.
Reliable sources indicated that the Algerian authorities decided to hand over several Moroccan nationals, showing a willingness to facilitate the repatriation process for migrants.
This initiative aligns with ongoing efforts to strengthen cooperation between Morocco and Algeria regarding migration and detention issues.
The Moroccan Association for Assistance to Migrants in Difficult Situations in Oujda reported that the group included young individuals from various Moroccan cities.
Among those returning, three individuals hailed from Fes, three from Oujda, and two from Taza. The remaining returnees came from cities such as Bouarfa, Jerada, Sefrou, Nador, Settat, and Ben Guerir.
The return of these individuals represents a positive development that reflects the commitment of both Morocco and Algeria to address migrant issues and facilitate exchange processes.
