Morocco Takes Urgent Measures to Protect Its Nationals in Lebanon Amid Escalating Tensions

Rabat – In light of the recent escalation of events in Lebanon, the Kingdom of Morocco has taken swift steps to ensure the safety of its citizens residing and present in Lebanon. Informed sources have reported that many Moroccan citizens left Lebanon immediately following the initial Israeli strikes, while the Moroccan government is actively working to monitor the situation of those who remain.

Immediate Actions to Protect Citizens

In a proactive move, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates has formed a dedicated crisis cell to monitor the situation of Moroccan citizens in Lebanon. This cell aims to:

  1. Continuously monitor the security situation in Lebanon.
  2. Maintain direct communication with the Moroccan community residing in Lebanon.
  3. Provide necessary assistance and support to citizens wishing to return to Morocco.
  4. Coordinate with Lebanese authorities to ensure the safety of Moroccan citizens.

A senior source at the ministry, who requested anonymity, stated: “We are closely monitoring the situation in Lebanon, and our top priority is ensuring the safety of our citizens. We are in constant contact with our embassy in Beirut and are providing all necessary support to our nationals there.”

Voluntary Departure and Precautionary Measures

According to the information received, a large number of Moroccan citizens have chosen to leave Lebanon voluntarily as soon as hostilities began. The Moroccan Embassy in Beirut has facilitated the departure process, providing necessary logistical assistance.

The source added: “We urge all remaining Moroccan citizens in Lebanon to exercise utmost caution and adhere to the instructions of local authorities. We also call on them to stay in constant contact with our embassy and update their information with us.”

Call for Communication

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has called on all Moroccan citizens in Lebanon to contact the Moroccan Embassy in Beirut or call the emergency number established for this purpose.

Concluding his statement, the official source emphasized: “The Moroccan government is closely monitoring the situation and is ready to take all necessary measures to ensure the safety of our citizens in Lebanon. We are working around the clock to provide the necessary support and assistance.”
