The Moroccan General Directorate of National Security, in partnership with Interpol, is organizing an international workshop titled “Security for Major Sporting Events” in Marrakech on September 25-26, 2024.
This workshop comes as part of the General Directorate of National Security’s efforts to build and enhance the capabilities of police forces in the field of sports security, in preparation for Morocco’s hosting of two major sporting events: the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations and the 2030 FIFA World Cup.
The initiative aims to qualify Moroccan security personnel to manage these massive sporting events and ensure the highest levels of security and safety for both participants and spectators.
The workshop is expected to see the participation of international experts in the field of sports event security, where experiences and best practices in this domain will be exchanged.
This step reflects Morocco’s commitment to developing its security capabilities and enhancing its readiness to successfully host global sporting events, thus cementing its position as a major destination for world sports.
It’s worth noting that Morocco will host the Africa Cup of Nations in 2025 and will co-host the 2030 FIFA World Cup alongside Spain and Portugal, making this workshop of strategic importance in the context of preparations for these two major sporting events.
