Fez, September 24, 2024 – The Fez Municipal Council failed to pass the household waste management contract during its latest session, as it was unable to secure the required votes from its members.
According to informed sources, the Council needed to obtain 47 votes out of 92 active members to pass this contract, in accordance with the applicable laws. However, the Council only managed to get 47 votes.
The Fez Municipal Council will now have to convene another extraordinary session on Tuesday, September 24, 2024, in an attempt to once again pass the delegated waste management contract for the city. This is based on a letter from the Wali (Governor) of the Fez-Meknes region.
The agenda of this extraordinary session will be limited to the study and approval of the delegated management contracts for the cleaning sector in the various districts of the city of Fez.
It is worth mentioning that this failed attempt to pass the household waste management contract comes amid growing criticism from residents about the poor sanitation and sewerage services in the city.
