Crisis in Tangier City District: Administrative Court Considers Dismissal of President and Three Deputies

In a dramatic turn of events in the city of Tangier, the council of Tangier City District anxiously awaits the decision of the Administrative Court in Rabat regarding the fate of the district president and three of his deputies. This development came after the regional governor referred their cases to the court and issued a decision to suspend them from their duties until the final ruling is issued.

Informed sources revealed that this procedure was expected but delayed due to the governor’s absence from Tangier during the period when the King spent his summer vacation in Tetouan and Al Hoceima. The sources added that an inspection committee from the Ministry of Interior had previously visited Tangier City District, where it uncovered a series of violations related to the granting of licenses and the management of certain contracts.

Following this visit, the governor corresponded with the district president, requesting justification for the findings in the inspection committee reports. After studying the responses provided, the governor made the decision to refer the dismissal request file to the Administrative Court for adjudication.

This development comes as part of efforts to enhance transparency and accountability in local administration, as authorities seek to ensure compliance with laws and regulations governing the work of local councils.

The Administrative Court’s decision is expected to have a significant impact on the political and administrative landscape in Tangier City District, as it will determine the future of the district’s current leadership and could lead to substantial changes in local affairs management.

All eyes remain fixed on the Administrative Court in Rabat, awaiting its final judgment in this case, which has garnered considerable interest at both local and national levels.
