Moroccan Athlete Wins Second Gold at Paris Paralympics, Breaks World Record

Paris, France – In a stunning display of athleticism, Moroccan runner Ayoub El Haddaoui clinched his second gold medal for Morocco at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games on Saturday evening. El Haddaoui dominated the 400m T47 category race, not only securing the top spot but also shattering the world record in the process.

El Haddaoui completed the race in an impressive time of 46.65 seconds, obliterating the previous world record of 49.21 seconds. His exceptional performance highlights Morocco’s growing prominence in Paralympic sports.

In a display of Morocco’s strength in this event, Ayoub Sadni, the defending Paralympic champion and 2023 world champion, secured the silver medal with a time of 47.16 seconds. Brazil’s Thomaz Ruan de Moraes rounded out the podium, taking bronze with a time of 47.97 seconds.

This gold medal marks Morocco’s twelfth medal at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games, showcasing the nation’s impressive Paralympic campaign. The country’s medal tally now includes two golds, four silvers, and six bronzes across various sports including athletics, para-taekwondo, and shot put.

El Haddaoui’s victory adds to his earlier bronze medal in the 100m T47 category, underlining his versatility and skill as a sprinter. Other notable Moroccan medalists include Ayoub Adouich in para-taekwondo, Raja Akermach in para-taekwondo, Saida Amoudi in shot put, and Azzedine Nouiri in shot put, among others.

This latest triumph not only cements Morocco’s place as a formidable force in Paralympic athletics but also serves as an inspiration for aspiring para-athletes across the nation and beyond.
