On September 6, 2024, the Zouagha District Council held its regular September session, presided over by Mr. Ismail Jai Mansouri. The meeting was attended by key officials, including the heads of the urban areas of Bensouda and Zouagha, along with council members, department heads, and representatives from external services.
During the session, the council discussed several pressing issues on the agenda, focusing on matters that deeply affect the residents of the district. One of the most prominent concerns was the severe environmental crisis plaguing Zouagha, the largest district in the city of Fez.
The district is witnessing a significant decline in the maintenance of its parks and green spaces. Many of the once-vibrant gardens have been left neglected, negatively impacting the beauty of the city and the quality of life for its residents. Shrubs and plants that were once a defining feature of the district’s charm are now deteriorating, diminishing both their environmental and aesthetic benefits.
Additionally, residents are facing a growing issue of waste accumulation in the streets and public areas. This not only worsens the environmental crisis but also poses a serious public health risk, as there are no effective waste management solutions in place.
Amidst this situation, residents are increasingly calling on local authorities for urgent intervention to rehabilitate the green spaces and ensure proper maintenance of public parks. Citizens are eager to see improvements in their local environment and are demanding concrete solutions to address the environmental challenges facing their district.
