As part of ongoing efforts to implement rehabilitation programs aimed at reintegrating prisoners into society and reducing recidivism rates, Ras El Ma Local Prison in Fez hosted a preparatory meeting for the “Prisons Without Recidivism” program on Thursday, September 5, 2024.
This program, launched by the General Delegate for Prison Administration and Reintegration in July 2023, seeks to provide comprehensive rehabilitation for young inmates, particularly those who face challenges reintegrating after their release.
The meeting was chaired by the prison director, Mr. Azeddine Chafiq, and attended by representatives from Fez’s judicial authorities, local authorities, the Scientific Council, and the Regional Human Rights Commission, along with other partners of the General Delegation for Prison Administration and Reintegration.
During the meeting, initial concepts of the program were discussed, and proposals for developing its content and modules to suit the needs of the target group were explored.
This meeting represents an initial step towards drafting a detailed action plan for the successful implementation of the program, which aims to enhance rehabilitation opportunities and reduce recidivism rates by strengthening inmates’ skills and providing necessary support in various aspects of their lives and social reintegration.
