Casablanca, September 3, 2024The General Directorate of National Security issued a statement today announcing that the elements of the Provincial Judicial Police in Casablanca, in coordination with the General Directorate for Territorial Surveillance, managed to seize a total of 9,771,000 units of fireworks and pyrotechnics, which pose a danger to the safety of individuals and property.
Details of the Operation
Field interventions carried out in this case resulted in the arrest of two individuals suspected of being linked to a criminal network involved in smuggling these prohibited materials from outside Morocco through illegal routes and fraudulent methods.
Inspection and Seizure Operations
The inspection operations conducted by the judicial police led to the seizure of a record shipment of fireworks and pyrotechnics, which included long rockets, fireworks of various sizes, and dangerous firecrackers that pose a serious threat to the safety of citizens and their property.Additionally, the seizure operations also resulted in the confiscation of three vehicles suspected of being used for transporting and smuggling these prohibited shipments.
Legal Procedures
The two suspects have been placed under police custody, while two employees have been subjected to judicial investigation procedures under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor. This investigation aims to uncover the smuggling routes for these prohibited shipments and identify the illegal distribution channels, as well as to apprehend all those involved in importing and selling them unlawfully.
