Significant Progress in the Construction of Ibn Sina University Hospital in Rabat

The construction project of Ibn Sina University Hospital in Rabat, which is considered the first of its kind in Africa, has made significant progress. This new facility represents a new generation of hospitals.

Project Details

The construction of Ibn Sina University Hospital was launched on May 5, 2022, under the guidance of King Mohammed VI. It is located on a 13-hectare site near the existing university hospital and requires an investment of 6 billion dirhams. The project includes the establishment of a general hospital with a capacity of 916 beds, a heart institute with a capacity of 90 beds, a conference and education center, and various internal facilities.

Hospital Design

The hospital’s design features a 33-story building, along with two underground levels. This hospital is considered an “architectural and technical achievement” aimed at providing high-quality healthcare, with a focus on environmental sustainability and modern technology. The project also includes a 6.5-hectare garden, making it a symbol of modernity and quality in healthcare.

Site Visit

On April 15, 2023, the Minister of Health and Social Protection, Khalid Ait Taleb, conducted a site visit to monitor the construction progress. The minister confirmed that the work is proceeding according to the established timeline, emphasizing the project’s importance in enhancing Morocco’s healthcare infrastructure.

Future Projects

Minister of Energy and Water, Pinto Kamara, indicated that new projects are under negotiation with “Power China,” including the Savo power station, which will contribute to enhancing the country’s capacity to provide energy.

Conclusion

Ibn Sina University Hospital represents a significant step toward improving healthcare services in Morocco. It is expected to meet the increasing healthcare needs of citizens. With construction progressing, there is hope that the hospital will open by the end of 2024, reflecting Morocco’s commitment to strengthening the health sector.
