Marrakech: Extensive Security Campaign Results in Over 1,600 Arrests in One Week

The security services of Marrakech Province are continuing their comprehensive security campaign for the second consecutive week, targeting crime prevention and enhancing public safety in the streets. The campaign has so far resulted in the arrest of 1,650 individuals since its launch at the end of last week.

Special sources reported that the campaign focuses on several areas, including combating crimes that affect the sense of public security, deterring dangerous driving behaviors, as well as controlling traffic violations that threaten the safety of road users and citizens.

During the night of August 30-31 alone, security forces managed to arrest 433 individuals, including 114 who were wanted at the national level. The arrests included people involved in various crimes, including acts contrary to public morals.

This intensive security campaign comes as part of the Moroccan authorities’ efforts to enhance security and stability in Marrakech, which is a major tourist destination in the kingdom. The campaign appears to be continuing in the coming days, with a special focus on areas experiencing high criminal activity.

These measures confirm the authorities’ commitment to ensuring the safety of both citizens and visitors, and to strengthening confidence in the ability of security agencies to address various security challenges.

The campaign underscores the proactive approach of Moroccan law enforcement in maintaining public order and safety, particularly in a city that plays a crucial role in the country’s tourism sector. As the operation continues, it is expected to have a significant impact on reducing crime rates and improving the overall security situation in Marrakech.
