In an official statement, the Rabat Security Prefecture categorically denied the validity of rumors circulating on instant messaging applications and social media platforms, which falsely claimed that “security services in Rabat seized a Kalashnikov-type firearm in the possession of an individual in a natural park in Rabat.”
The Rabat Security Prefecture, in clarifying to the public, confirms that the judicial police in the Agdal Hassan district opened a judicial investigation under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor’s office on the morning of Thursday, August 29th, after apprehending a minor student, aged 17, carrying a plastic replica model resembling a Kalashnikov rifle in shape. It was established that this model was purchased online.
The Security Prefecture emphasizes in its statement that this is not a real weapon, urging citizens to exercise caution and not to be misled by false news that may cause alarm among residents.
