The Moroccan city of Marrakech witnessed an intensive security campaign at the end of last week, carried out by the city’s security prefecture. The operation targeted dangerous road behaviors and aimed to reduce crimes that threaten citizens’ security and safety.
The security operations, which took place on the night of August 24 and the early hours of August 25, resulted in the arrest of 93 individuals. Among those detained were individuals involved in crimes against public order and morality, as well as wanted persons in various criminal cases.
Additionally, 23 vehicles were impounded in the municipal pound due to their owners’ involvement in reckless and dangerous driving. Regarding road safety, traffic police managed to apprehend four drivers for operating without a license, recorded 176 violations for motorcycle riders not wearing helmets, and issued 365 other traffic violations.
All security agencies in Marrakech participated in this campaign, including the judicial police, urban authority, traffic police, regular units, and various security zones and police districts.
Security authorities confirmed that these operations will continue regularly to curb negative and illegal phenomena in public streets, as part of an integrated action plan aimed at enhancing security and ensuring citizens’ safety.
The campaign reflects the authorities’ commitment to maintaining order and safety in Marrakech, addressing both traffic violations and broader public security concerns. It also demonstrates a comprehensive approach to law enforcement, involving multiple branches of the city’s security apparatus.
