Fes, Morocco – As part of its ongoing efforts to combat crime and enhance public security, Moroccan authorities conducted a large-scale operation in the city of Fes from July 20 to August 22, 2023. This operation yielded significant results in fighting crime and apprehending law offenders.
According to official data released by security authorities, a total of 8,144 individuals were arrested during this period. Of these, 3,864 were caught in the act of committing criminal offenses, while 4,280 were wanted on national search warrants for suspected involvement in various crimes.
Security forces successfully seized large quantities of prohibited substances, including 195 kilograms of hashish, 832 psychotropic pills, and 463 grams of cocaine. Additionally, 663 liters of smuggled alcoholic beverages, 205 bladed weapons, 275 mobile phones, and 30 cars and motorcycles suspected of being used in criminal activities were confiscated.
The operation targeted a wide range of crimes, including violent thefts, physical assaults, economic crimes such as issuing checks without sufficient funds and online fraud, as well as drug-related offenses.
Various units of the judicial police, public security, and intelligence participated in this operation, supported by the National Judicial Police Brigade and the General Directorate of Territorial Surveillance. The operation was preceded by a detailed study and update of wanted persons lists at both local and national levels.
This security campaign comes as part of the ongoing efforts of the General Directorate of National Security to combat crime and enhance citizens’ sense of security. Security authorities affirm their commitment to continuing these efforts to ensure the safety and security of the community.
