Forum for Communication with Moroccans Worldwide Concludes Conference with Important Recommendations on Citizenship, Development, and Solidarity

The Forum for Communication with Moroccans Worldwide concluded its conference held in Casablanca on August 10, 2024, under the theme “Morocco’s Aspirations 2030”. The conference addressed issues of citizenship, development, and solidarity, with the participation of a diverse group of Moroccan citizens from within the kingdom and from various countries of residence abroad.

The conference concluded with a set of important recommendations, most notably:

1. Calling for the expedited implementation of constitutional provisions related to Moroccans residing abroad, and finding a solution to the issue of political participation for Moroccans in the diaspora.
2. Demanding the swift issuance of the new law for the Council of the Moroccan Community Abroad, focusing on change, youth involvement, and renewal.
3. Advocating for the institutionalization of dialogue with democratic entities and creating consultation spaces between associations of Moroccans worldwide and embassies and consulates.
4. Urging the establishment of a framework for dialogue and consultation to study the issues of Moroccans worldwide, especially those related to real estate, property, and investments.
5. Emphasizing the need to facilitate travel and movement for elderly and retired Moroccans abroad, and provide them with social assistance.
6. Working towards creating an environment for genuine political openness and broad national reconciliation.
7. Paying attention to issues of rising far-right and xenophobic forces against immigrants in countries of residence.
8. Reviewing the management of issues related to national culture and Moroccan cultural identity values, especially religious affairs.
9. Establishing a network of civil society actors to unify solidarity efforts in cases of natural disasters.
10. Developing a new strategy to defend the territorial integrity issue in international forums.
11. Giving special attention to issues of youth and migrant women, and developing a strategy to mobilize competencies.

The forum emphasized the importance of these recommendations in strengthening the ties between Morocco and its citizens abroad, and in addressing the challenges facing Moroccans worldwide in various fields.
